    Important notice for all applicants - 5 or more appointments booked by the same applicant will not be accepted at VFS and will automatically be cancelled, online VFS service fees will not be refunded in case of cancellation. Online VFS fees will also not be refunded in case of appointment not attended at VFS date and time given by applicants.

    With immediate effect, in order to submit the legalizations for divorces issued from Sri Lanka it is mandatory to include in the application a copy of the identity documents of both the ex-spouses and the written communication with proof of receipt to the competent Italian Questura (Police Headquarter) from both the ex-spouses informing about the change of the civil status from married to divorced and therefore the missing pre-requisites for a family reunion permit stay (permesso di soggiorno). In the letter to the Questura the cancelled permit stay details of the ex-spouse after the divorce must be mentioned.

    With effect from the 05 September 2019 the online appointment bookings for any visa category will be finalized only with the online payment of VFS Logistic Fees. Fees paid online are not refundable in case of appointment cancellation or in case of missed submission at the VFS on the date and time reported in the appointment letter. Applicants who have correctly made the payment online and booked the appointment are requested to carry the appointment letter at the moment of visa submission to be shown to VFS Officers. Applicants without appointment letter will not be accepted.

    Important notice for family reunion visa applications for holders of nulla osta s.u.i.

    Starting from 30 April 2019 applicants for type d visa to italy for family reunion will need to submit documents relating to their family bond (marriage/birth/death/divorce/court decree depending on the case) duly translated into italian and legalized by the consular section of the embassy of italy in colombo.

    As the nulla osta issued by the italian prefecture (sportello unico per l’immigrazione) will have a validity of 6 months, sri lankan nationals are recommended to prepare their family status documents in advance as the legalization process – pending the verifications needed – may take a few months.

    The booking system will remain unchanged. You can therefore book your appointment only through the Online booking of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

    The Embassy of Italy in Colombo reminds all users that the PrenotaOnline booking system is completely free and does not include any registration costs.

    Italy Long stay Study Visa applications will not be accepted until 23 April 2018. The applicants should obtain a prior appointment after 23 April 2018 in order to submit the applications.

    Due to expected changes to Italy Legalization Fees, the Legalization documents will not be accepted on 29 March 2018 /30 March 2018 and 03 April 2018. The above decision is made on instructions received from the Italian Embassy in Colombo. All the applicants are requested to reschedule the appointments for the next available date.

    Update from The Embassy of Italy

    As confirmed by Italy Embassy, VFS will accept Schengen Visa applications till 27 October 2015. No Schengen visa Applications will be accepted on 28 October 2015, 29 October 2015 and 30 October 2015.

    From 02 November 2015, VFS will accept Schengen Visa applications and all applicants will have to appear in person in order to provide biometric data (fingerprints)

    With effect from 16 June 2014, The Embassy of Italy in Sri Lanka has designated the International Organization for Migration (IOM) to conduct verification of document integrity and authenticity of Sri Lankan nationals, applying for family reunion visas to Italy, to facilitate their safe and legal migration to Italy.

    Document Submission Time: from 09:30 to 13:00 Monday to Thursday (excluding public holidays).Applicants can call for an appointment OR walk in during the above mentioned hours.

    The IOM will charge a non-refundable service fee and the mandatory government charges for the conduct of verification of document integrity and authenticity of Sri Lankan nationals.

    The Embassy of Italy informs all applicants that the verification of document integrity and authenticity is a necessary requirement of the visa issuance process and that their failure to comply with the instructions of IOM may lead to rejection of the application.
